How to: Grafting (Kitchener Stitch)

When you’re looking for a seamless finish to join your knitting – perfect for toes, adding pockets, joining shoulder stitches and more – grafting can be a great choice! You may also have heard of it referred to as the Kitchener Stitch.

Unlike a seam, when grafting, your stitches are all ‘live’ - you don’t cast off, you just join them together! This means the knit fabric isn’t interrupted by cast-off edges and seams.

Grab some needles, a wool needle, and watch our how-to video where Molly will explain how to graft two pieces of knitting together.
