Designed by Tanya Johnson of SupaKnit
This cowl is made a little differently to normal, as you knit to set measurements rather than row counts. This makes the cowl a great stash buster for any weight yarn from DK/worsted, right through to super bulky.
Using your chosen yarn, use the recommended gauge and size needles on your YARN LABEL. My samples may help to give an indication of how much yarn you will need.
The finished garment is easy to wear. The €˜V' panel sits at the front with no need to worry about tying it up. The stripes will add a lovely detail, but the cowl would be just as lovely made in a single colour.
Worked flat on circular needles, and seamed at the back.
Measurements: 31cm wide, length increases from 25cm to 58cm at longest point. Final measurements will vary slightly by a few cm after washing, depending on the yarn and needles used.
Requirements:
Any yarn you prefer!
circular knitting needles, sized to suit your preferred yarn, at least 80cm length.
1x stitch marker
darning needle, scissors
(Blue sample knitted in Whisper 8ply, Whispy Blue, using about 484m on 4mm needles. Grey sample knitted in Classic 12ply Smoke held double with 4ply Sock Yarn Evening Shadows, using about 200m of each yarn on 7mm needles.)
Tension: is not crucial for this pattern, however you will need to adjust your needle size to get dimensions of finished piece as shown in pattern instructions.
