Super soft and feather light, Lilt is a blend of the finest kid mohair and pure, luminous mulberry silk. Crafted in Italy especially for Bendigo Woollen Mills, this laceweight, 2-ply yarn is gossamer-light with a gentle drape and an elegant sheen. The mohair lends a delicate halo and airy volume to every stitch, while the silk core adds luminosity and strength.
Each limited-edition shade pairs perfectly with yarns from our Luxury or Whisper ranges.

Want to use Lilt with another BWM yarn?
You can hold Lilt together with any of our Bendigo Woollen Mills yarns to make your favourite patterns. You can 'match' the colours or contrast the colours for a marled effect...your only limit is your imagination!
Due to the halo of the mohair, it performs a little differently than other yarns you'd hold together, giving the combined yarn more density than you might expect. We'd recommend swatching before commencing a project to get a sense of the finished 'fabric' you'll be creating, but as a guide:
- A 4 ply yarn held with one strand of Lilt would usually work with a 8 ply project
- An 8 ply yarn held with Lilt could work with a 10 ply or 12 ply project.

Great addition to lots of the projects. You can knit this yarn on its own (I prefer double thread) or sometimes I add it to the wool or even cotton mix for additional warms and/or fluffy texture

Lilt really made this jumper super soft. I knitted it with whisper magnolia and sock yarn in the Isabella jumper pattern

Absolutely amazing yarn, really soft and has good strength. Currently working with it in combination with another yarn and it’s coming out so pretty and whimsical. Can’t wait to use it on another project
I have incorporated this gorgeous yarn into baby blankets - combining white alpaca with pink Lilt. It looked so lovely and it was light, soft and so warm.
I did have one problem. Our grandchildren’s dog helped herself to a ‘fun activity’ with one ball and the effect was pretty devastating 😩 luckily I had a spare ball of Lilt 🩷

I'm only half way through knitting my cardigan. I am combining this lilt yarn with another 8 ply yarn; they are knitted together. It's lovely!
