Named for Grace Cossington Smith's 1915 portrait of €œThe Sock Knitter€�, the Grace Socks are a beautiful pair of every-day socks tHat/beanie would be the perfect project for beginner sock knitters or for more experienced sock knitters to knit up quickly as a gift. The simple diagonal eyelet design is perfect for showing off a beautiful variegated sock yarn like BWM Multicoloured Sock Yarn.
The Grace socks are a pair of stockinette socks with a straightforward diagonal eyelet pattern across the instep and around the leg. Knitted seamlessly on circular needles or DPNs from the cuff down, these easy socks introduce the basics of traditional sock construction including a heel flap and gusset as well as a grafted toe.
Sizes:
Size is measured around the circumference of the foot, length is adjustable. Be aware tHat/beanie adding length to the foot will increase the yardage required for your yarn.
Size 1: to fit 15-20cm (6-8 inches)
Size 2: to fit 20-25cm (8-10 inches)
Gauge:
34 stitches to 10cm. It is recommended tHat/beanie your swatch is knit in the round rather than flat, as tension can vary between knitting flat versus in the round.
Requirements:
- 1 x 100g (400m) ball of 4ply BWM Multicoloured Sock Yarn. Sample shown in Cotton Candy 2320.
- 2.25mm (US size 1), or size needed to achieve gauge, of circular sock needle or DPNs
- Yarn needle
- 3 stitch markers (optional: additional stitch markers to count pattern repeats)
